At Superpower Mentors, we're on a mission to empower thousands of students with Dyslexia and ADHD to successfully navigate the complexities of neurotypical environments. Superpower Mentors are not liscensed healthcare professionals. Mentors are experienced individuals who provide guidance, advice, and support to someone who is either less experienced in a particular area or going through similar adversity. Superpower Mentors offer their expertise and experience to help the mentee develop skills, knowledge, and connections to succeed in academic, professional or in personal areas of challenge. Superpower Mentors use various techniques and interventions to help mentees understand their feelings and behaviors, improve their coping skills, and overcome obstacles that are preventing them from achieving their goals.
In contrast, therapists are licensed healthcare professionals who provide psychological treatment to individuals who are experiencing emotional, behavioral, or mental health issues. Therapists are trained to diagnose and treat a wide range of mental health conditions, such as depression, anxiety, trauma, and addiction.
While mentors and therapists use similar communication and active listening skills to support their clients, the scope of their work and the goals they help clients achieve can be different. Mentors focus on professional or personal development, while therapists focus on mental health and well-being. Additionally, mentors are not required to be licensed or regulated by a professional body, while therapists are subject to rigorous training and ethical standards set by their professional associations and licensing boards.

During a session with a Superpower Mentor, you can expect a personalized approach that is tailored to your child's interests and needs. Our mentors understand the importance of building a strong relationship with their mentees and creating a safe, supportive environment for them to grow.
With this in mind, your Superpower Mentor will dive into a range of topics that are relevant to your child and their unique situation. Whether it's academic challenges, social skills, or other areas of development, we will work with your child to identify their strengths and opportunities for growth.
We also understand that building a connection with your child is essential to their success, so we focus on utilizing their interests as a tool for engagement. For instance, if your child enjoys playing video games, you may find your Superpower Mentor playing games with them to foster a deeper connection and build trust.
At Superpower Mentors, we are committed to providing a customized and impactful mentorship experience that empowers your child to unlock their full potential.

At Superpower Mentors, we take our commitment to the safety and well-being of our students seriously. Our rigorous six-step vetting process ensures that we only work with the most qualified and trustworthy mentors.
Our vetting process includes a comprehensive third-party background check at the local, state, and federal levels. This helps us to ensure that our mentors are free of any criminal history that could jeopardize the safety of our students.
In addition, our mentors undergo a six-hour certification course that equips them with the skills and knowledge they need to effectively mentor students with Dyslexia and ADHD. They also participate in bi-weekly meetings with our team leaders to ensure that they are providing the highest level of support to their mentees.
We also believe that it's important for our students and parents to feel comfortable and confident with their mentor. That's why we facilitate meetings between the mentor and the family prior to any agreement being made. We also provide mentor session recaps to keep parents informed about their child's progress.
At Superpower Mentors, we believe that a parent's instinct is a powerful tool in ensuring their child's success. That's why we work closely with parents to ensure that they feel empowered and informed throughout the mentorship process. Together, we can help your child unlock their full potential.

In the unlikely event that you feel your mentor match is not the right fit, we have a plan in place to ensure your child's needs are fully met.
At no extra cost, our dedicated team will arrange a meeting with your family to gain a deeper understanding of your child's requirements. From there, we will work to find a more suitable mentor to match your child's unique needs.
Once we have identified a better match, we will introduce you and your child to the new mentor. We understand the importance of maintaining consistency and stability in your child's life, so our transition-of-relationship procedures are designed to minimize any disruption.
Our priority is to ensure your child receives the support they need from a mentor who can guide and inspire them towards achieving their goals.

At Superpower Mentors, we understand that it's common for a mentee to be resistant at first, and we are well-equipped to handle such situations. Our primary focus is on building trust with our mentees and ensuring that they understand that we are not here to "fix" them. If you are concerned about your child's resistance, we recommend scheduling a free consultation with us or scheduling a "Meet Your Mentor" session to learn more about their story.
When it comes to approaching a resistant child, we suggest highlighting the positive aspects of the mentorship program and finding common interests between the mentor and your child. You don't need to convince them to participate fully in the program—that's our job. All you need to do is encourage your child to join a quick 5-minute call, and we'll take it from there. If you continue to encounter resistance, please don't hesitate to reach out to us at hello@superpowermentors.com.
